Today John has given us a gift, a day off from his gruelling challenge (you know I’m kidding John!). It came completely unexpected, I was ready to dish up something special… maybe. I’ve decided to go ahead and post anyway, to put my ‘reflections’ out there for all to see.
The absolutely awesome thing about this challenge is that there is a little microcosm of like minded individuals all along for the same ride. We are sharing ideas on ‘why’ and ‘how’ we write and having a few laughs along the way. I have checked out many of the posts from fellow challengers and have been awed by some truly thoughtful posts.
When I think about my own style I felt there was something missing; not long enough, not inspiring enough and certainly not polished enough. I almost felt embarrassed, just a little. However, I remember something I read recently about ‘blogging for yourself’, unfortunately I can’t find the article. One of the points was to periodically take yourself back and read some of your posts (as a critic) to reflect on what you wrote and think about what you would change.
For better or worse, I feel that I’ve found my style and it seems my most important critic, me, is OK with it.
