Bad Luck

A good friend of mine, lets call him Mark, was telling me on Monday how he forgot to get his vehicle license renewed back in December. In our part of the world we have to renew the plates on our vehicles yearly, on your birthday (there is a two year option as well). Back to the story…

On Tuesday he again mentioned how he has to get that license renewed. In our part of the world, you pay some money and they give you a little sticker that you stick to your existing license plate. That sticker is about the size of a large postage stamp. Back to the story…

Today, my friend once again tells me, over lunch, that he absolutely has to get his license renewed and plans on doing it right after lunch and that is exactly what he did. However, on his way to the licensing office, 2-3 kilometres away from our office he got stopped by the police and was ticketed for not having his plate renewed.

I’ve followed many cars, thousands probably, maybe hundreds of thousands and I can say without a doubt that I’ve never even noticed those tiny little stickers. Our local police must have really, really good eyes and Mark must have really, really bad luck.
