I manage a team of people with very different personalities and backgrounds. It’s always fascinating to watch how they interact to solve problems. It’s one of the reasons I love ‘managing’. Rarely does a day go by that I don’t learn something new or make an interesting observation.
Last night several Teams came together to implement a project that has been more than a year in the making. The project timeline was discussed in detail so many times we could easily follow it in our sleep. Every risk had a mitigation plan and everyone knew where they were needed and when.
Chaos…
From the word go and through to the successful completion I witnessed humour, anger, impatience, rage and more humour. The range of emotions was awesome, sometimes the emotions got in the way and slowed things down while other times it broke the ice and released quite a bit of pent up frustration.
I’ve often found that these types of exercises pull people together in ways that form long lasting bonds.
As an observer of human nature I learnt a lot.
