Took a cab to Pier 33… this is where the boats leave for Alcatraz. I don’t know what to say… the tour was unbelievable! We took the audio tour… $26, which includes the boat trip… both ways. If ever in San Francisco this is a MUST. This has got to be the best bang for the buck I have ever had… bravo US National Park Service!
Back on the main land we spent the afternoon at Pier 39… better known as Fisherman’s Wharf. We started with Clam Chowder in Boudin’s famous sourdough bread bowl. A little touring around the Pier… a little shopping… watching the seals sun themselves on the docks… and we were hungry again.
Went for supper at Wipeout Bar & Grill… had a great meal, with a window seat facing the bay. When we were done we went to the washroom… the only reason I mention this is because the washroom was unisex… one room for all. There were no urinals… just a bunch of stalls… weird.
Walked part way home… up some steep streets, back and forth up the famous switchbacks of Lombard street… got tired soon after and took a cab back to hotel… cost? $7.30.
All done… need rest.
