Left San Francisco today… heading for Yosemite National Park. The ride was really interesting… we started at the Pacific ocean, drove through some flat lands which slowly changed to gently rolling hills covered in a carpet of green grass. A while later the green hills sported some rocks… then trees… that’s when we got into the really rugged stuff. Found our hotel in El Portal… checked in and decided to take a ride into Yosemite National Park.
It costs $20 for the car and us… for a seven day pass… unbelievable! We thought we would simply get some information but ended up touring for a few hours. When you hear someone say the scenery is majestic think of Yosemite… no matter which way you look you are treated to spectacular views, check some of the pix on my Flickr account.
Back to hotel… ate supper… slept…
mar.12.2010: got up… back to Yosemite for the day.
We started our day with a hike to Mirror Lake… it was supposed to be a 2km hike… we walked 6km… went right by the lake… idiots. Not being seasoned hikers, this pretty well finished us off. We rested, ate a little, rested some more… then drove around. Stopped for the short walk to Yosemite Falls… both Upper and Lower… beautiful.
Something we thought was strange was the graveyard and residential areas withing the Park… not to mention the courthouse.
That’s it for today… tomorrow we head to Lake Tahoe.
